Antonella Barba not eliminated from American Idol Phew
Antonella Barba not eliminated from 'American Idol' yet...What a relieve ??
The "American Idol'' judges may not have shown Antonella Barba any love, but America did.
On tonight's "American Idol Results Show,'' the Point Pleasant resident learned that she was safe -- and staying in Hollywood to sing for another week.
The news came as a relief for Barba, who has been the focus of intense scrutiny since scandalous and racy photographs of the 20-year-old began circulating on the Internet last week.
The 2004 graduate of Red Bank Catholic High School broke into a smile when Seacrest delivered the news.
As with all things "Idol,'' the announcement was delivered with drama.
With contestant Alaina Alexander eliminated earlier in the evening, Seacrest called Barba, Leslie Hunt and Jordin Sparks to center stage, telling the trio that one of them would be going home.
"Antonella, you sang 'Because You Loved Me'‚'' Seacrest said. "Randy said it didn't work for you. Paula said you improved from last week. Simon said you were worse
than last week.''
Seacrest paused as cameras zoomed in on Barba.
"Antonella, I'm sorry …'' Ryan said. "You're going to have to deal
with Simon again. You're safe.''
After being panned by "Idol'' judges for attempting to sing Aerosmith's "Don't Want To Miss A Thing'' in the previous week's competition, Barba said Wednesday
night that she was confident that she had picked a song more suited to her voice.
"I picked a better song,'' Barba told Seacrest before her performance of Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me.'' "It's more me.''
The judges disagreed.
