Voters keep Antonella Barba’s American Idol dream alive

We’ve been saying it all week and tonight’s vote proved us right once again; Antonella Barba’s topless pictures got her more than enough votes to keep her American Idol dream alive.

The second round of American Idol eliminations brought surprises and confirmations alike.

Nick Pedro and Leslie Hunt already had their feet out of American Idol going into Thursday night. Voters sanctioned their widely forecasted departure.

The elimination of Alaina Alexander and AJ Tabaldo came a bit of a surprise. Although never in the race, both semifinalists had done better than their peers Gina Gloksen , Haley Carnato and Brandon Rogers.

What is everything but a surprise, at least according to us, is Antonella Barba staying in the race. While it is true that she got into Thursday night after a disastrous performance of Celine Dion’s "Because You Loved Me.", it is also true that she got into voting night with the largest number of followers, far more than any other contestant.

And, as we predicted, Antonella Barba was among Thursday evening largest vote getters. Like it or not her instant celebrity deriving from her topless pictures leaked on the Internet a week ago did the magic, getting her the support of every male voter.

It must be clear by now that Antonella Barba’s fans are rewarding her lifestyle and off-American Idol personality rather than her singing performances.

The Jersey Girl Gone Topless, also known as American Idol Deep Throat because of a series of nude pictures of a look-alike performing oral sex on a lucky dude, has become an instant celebrity because she perfectly fits the profile of today’s party girls and guys.
